Hints And Helpful Ideas For The Home Business Owner

Hints And Helpful Ideas For The Home Business Owner

Running a home business is an exciting venture. It can be a little scary, too. There are so many things to learn and to coordinate. You have to figure out a daily routine, keep improving your skills, and take care of lots of paperwork. The helpful tips in this article can make these tasks and many others a lot easier for you.

You should be able to talk about your business plan and goals in a few sentences. If you're able to tell others what your business is about in a couple of sentences, you can impress people when you're speaking with them. Cover the areas that your business can improve to build credibility with customers.

If you are running a home based business, you need to have a domain name and a website. Even the best websites will still look unprofessional if they are hosted on a free web-building site. Domain names are relatively cheap. Pick one that's related to your business and you will undoubtedly see an increase in sales.

Running a home business can be a difficult task if you do not take it seriously. In order to succeed at working from home you should dress the part, have a space dedicated for work and work only, and have a set schedule. This ensures that business actually takes place when you are at home.

Use an online service or software to design a matching set of postcards, fliers and brochures to send out to customers and prospects. Look online for printer suppliers that offer an interface that allows you to add text to one of their existing designs, or upload your own. Choose a design as your "brand," the look and feel you want people to identify with your business.

All young businesses take quite a bit of time to really get up and running. Because of this you should ensure that you have a secondary source of income until the home business is able to sustain itself as well as your household. This can come from a spouse, savings, or a part-time job.

Make sure you have a safe workplace. This includes having a smoke detector and fire extinguisher in your work area. You should also find an efficient solution to backup all your data. The right type of fire protection helps you lower your business insurance costs, and an ergonomic keyboard helps protect your hands.

Examine all of the ways your home business appears in the marketplace and be sure you have a consistent message and presentation. Whether it is your business cards, web site or social media business page, keeping your messaging professional and synchronized helps you promote your business appropriately and clearly across multiple channels.

It will always be challenging trying to run your business from your home. However, many people do it and make a success of it every day. You can make a go of it, too, if you learn the tricks that help things run more smoothly. Start applying the pointers provided in this article today, and make your home business experience an enjoyable one.

Basics Of The Stock Market

Basics Of The Stock Market

Many new investors jump into the stock market based on hearing the hype of how it?s possible to make great money investing this way. They may have heard of a friend who made a bundle with day trading or a colleague who has a hot stock tip and so they figure they?ll jump into the market too.

Before you begin investing, it?s important that you understand at least the basics of the stock market.

While investing in stocks can help you to build a great investment portfolio, if you?re not careful about your strategies, you could also find it can be a great way to lose a lot of money too.

There are two sections to the stock market. The primary market is where shares are created by companies and generally offered to the public via an IPO (Initial Public Offering). The secondary market is where established stocks are exchanged and traded among investors without the involvement of the company issuing the stocks.

When people think about investing on the stock market, they tend to be talking about the secondary market.

Basics of Stock Market Shares

Shares, or stocks, are individual pieces of ownership of much larger companies. When companies need to raise capital, then sell off little portions of the company so that investors may become partial owners of that company. Each time you buy a stock, it represents a share of ownership in a publicly listed company. You become a shareholder. As you increase the number of stocks you have in one particular company, you increase the percentage of ownership you have.

As a shareholder, you are entitled to your share of the company?s earnings. These are usually paid as dividends, although not all companies offer dividend payments. You?re also entitled to exercise any of the voting rights that might be attached to that stock, however you don?t have a say in the daily operational running of that business.

Basics of Stock Market Pricing

There are several factors that can affect the price of stocks and you might notice that the price of stocks changes every day. While the price can be partially dictated by supply and demand, there are also other factors that can affect the overall price too. Economic changes, unemployment or bad management in the company are all individual factors that can also affect the pricing.

The price you see listed on any particular stock is based on the perceived profitability of the company and not the value of the company. This means the stock can often be priced based on what investors believe the stocks are worth. The value of the company is called the market capitalization.

When you see on the news that the market rose or fell by a number of points, it?s important to understand that not every single stock listed on the exchange followed the same movements. The index you see reported is a representation of a number of stocks and presented as a single figure to give a general idea of the market movements as a whole.

However, there will always be individual companies that move contrarily to the main market sentiment. It?s this contrary movement that day traders watch for, trying to find the next stock pick that will rise in value and gain profits for them.

Basics of Stock Market Investing

There are several types of stock market investment strategies. Day trading is growing in popularity as a way to smaller investors to begin building capital. The basis behind day trading is to buy a stock in the early part of the trading day and hopefully sell it again at a profit before trading closes.

Long term investors tend to purchase many different stocks in a diversified range of companies in various sectors to spread their risk. These investors tend to hold stocks for longer periods of time, allowing the value of their stocks to appreciate. They also receive dividend payments, either in the form of a check or as a dividend reinvestment plan, where the company issues stocks to the value of the dividend payments to the shareholder to add to his portfolio.

Do You Need A Link Popularity Tool

Do You Need A Link Popularity Tool

Before discussing the link popularity tool, let's discuss link popularity itself. What is it? Link popularity basically refers to the total number of web pages which link to your web site or any of its individual pages. The reason it is so important is because this is one of the main factors that search engines use to evaluate your website and where it will be ranked. If your website is ranked high with the search engines, you will come up in the first results when a potential customer goes online and searches for what your business offers. That's why webmasters are concerned with their link popularity.

So what is a link popularity tool? It depends on the tool. There are many facets to link popularity and link building so there are tools that correspond to those aspects. Some tools will perform an analysis on the various search engines to show you how many pages are linking to your site. They can also tell you which pages are linking. Some will actually give you a score so you can judge how well you are doing. Some will give you the opportunity to compare your site to others. Most free tools will only give you the results from the biggest search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN.

You'll probably notice that the amount of links varies significantly from search engine to search engine because the figures displayed represent the number of inbound-links that are known to each search engine in particular and will vary based on the size of its database. Search engines also figure out certain inbound-links (again, this varies according to the search engine) so certain backlinks may not figure into the total.

While you don't want to become obsessed with using this tool or checking the data all the time, it is important to keep tabs on your links. You want to keep your links as high-quality and relevant as possible and knowing where they are coming from can help you manage that information.

After you analyze the information that you get from your tool, you can then continue on with your link building strategy. Many tools are also connected or related to other services that can help you with this realm of link-building as well. Just remember that the same rules apply if you should decide to go with a link building service to take care of that aspect of your business. You want to get a quality service so make sure you do your research in order to get the most bang for your buck. While many link-building tools are free, link building services are definitely not. However, what they save you in time and effort could very much be worth it in terms of cash.

By all means, take advantage of a link popularity tool and then decide if you plan to go as far as to hire someone else to handle your backlink strategy.

Having A Successful Home Based Business Made Easy

Having A Successful Home Based Business Made Easy

There are numerous reasons why you might be interested in starting your own home-based business, along with a great deal of doubt, concern and questions. The following article offers some tips and advice to help quell the concerns, and offer resolution to common issues many people face in the operation or start-up of a home business.

Before starting a home business, be sure to research your market fully. If your product is something that your target market doesn't want or need, you won't get many sales. Rather than spending all your energy trying to force the market to buy your product, spend that energy designing and promoting a product the market wants.

If you are going to splurge on any home office furniture, splurge on a very comfortable office chair. You are going to spend many, many hours in this chair and if it is uncomfortable, you will not be as productive as you could be and you could technically, do damage to your body.

Since your home is also your work place, make a point to get out of the house on a regular basis. Don't isolate yourself for the sake of convenience. Go have lunch in the park, grab your coffee at a bookstore, etc. Just make sure you are out breathing fresh air at least once a day.

If you have a business, then you need a budget. How can you run a cost efficient business without a budget? It is impossible, and therefore imperative that you incorporate a well devised budget into the planning process. This budget should include what your expenses are of course and it should itemize them. Make sure you are thorough and include everything so that you are not misleading yourself.

Use your web site to advertise a free product for visitors. This will increase traffic on your site and give potential customers the ability to sample your product. Although it may cost a little money in the beginning, you should make up for it in sales from impressed new customers.

Do not be afraid to post your email address on your web site. Make sure that you include it on every separate page that you have. You do not want potential customers to search to figure out how to get in touch with you. The more effort that it takes them, the more likely they are to go on to something else without purchasing from you.

Make sure you have a support network before starting your home business. This includes family members who need to be aware of the time commitment involved, as well as an external networks you can reach out to for advice or support. Working from home has numerous benefits, but remaining a part of a group outside your home is invaluable.

Making the decision to start a home business or to invest more time in the one you've already gotten off the ground can be a cause of concern. There's so many questions about what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and why to do it, from marketing to overhead to product choice. Whether you just graduated with your MBA or are a stay-at-home mom or dad, you can simplify the answers to these questions by using the sensible advice in these tips.

Benefits Of Article Advertising Or Article Marketing

Benefits Of Article Advertising Or Article Marketing

Article advertising or article marketing can be the key to not only making money but having a successful business. If you have a product or service that you are trying to promote then one of the best and most cost effective ways is by using article advertising.

Article advertising is a type of marketing effort in which you write short articles, about 400-600 words, related to the product or service you wish to promote. If they are well written they will, after getting distributed to various online article directories that will be easily found on search engines and read by people interested in what you have to offer.

In article advertising, well written article will be constructed in such a way that it has strategic placements of keywords and keyword phrases used by those who are searching for what you have to offer. This will make your article easily found by search engines and can help get you noticed earlier by future consumers.

Some of the benefits of article advertising are:
1) It is a great way to gain respect in the niche you are trying to reach. If they see your well written and informative article they will see you as an authority. The more that you have written about a certain area, the more trusted you will be and the more likely they will be to buy what you offer.
2) It is very cost effective. If you write the article yourself it will only cost you the amount of time and energy you put into researching and writing the subject. If you can't write well, you can easily find those who are able to write for you who are affordable and will let you put your name on it, aka, ghostwriters. These are many times very affordable, though you need to make sure that they are able to give you unique content and are native speakers in the language you are trying to market in.
3) Links are also a great benefit to article advertising. Your well written article will have a link back to your website and will also have a resource box with a strong call to action. This will invite those reading the article to go to your site to find out more about what you have to offer. This will also help your search engine ranking.
4) It helps you reach a much larger target audience than you otherwise would have. Those who are really interested in what you are offering will be the ones who read your article. You won't be putting your marketing efforts in front of people who may or may not care about what you have to offer. It will be read by people who are truly interested in what you are doing and are also very likely to buy what you are selling.

Article marketing or article advertising is a great way to get attention to your products or services, if it is used correctly. Take some time to learn how to do it the right way or find a good ghost writer to do the work for you and you will find customers who are not only willing to buy from you, but trust that you are going to meet their needs and may come back to you for other purchases. Done correctly, article advertising can help you climb to the top and make you a success.

'Darlin', everybody hustles. It's just a question of how, when and where.' A tale of pre-Katrina New Orleans and your business success.

'Darlin', everybody hustles. It's just a question of how, when and where.' A tale of pre-Katrina New Orleans and your business success.

By Dr. Jeffrey Lant

Author's program note. I didn't have to look for the perfect tune to accompany this article. I've known it for decades. "I'm still here," from Stephen Sondheim's incredible musical "Follies" (1971). It's a song about grit, determination, doing what you have to do with the person you must do it with... to move up, move on, and force the big guys at the top to move over. This is the song you listen to on days when the recalcitrant world is just not going the way you want... it's the song you listen to when you mean to change that... and try again, because that's what winners do and losers can't even imagine. Go to any search engine now... go into a room all by yourself, the better to turn up the volume to the ear-shattering range... and let Sondheim's incredible music waft you to the place of your dreams... then listen to what you have to do to get there!

In the days before Hurricane Katrina, I used to frequently teach marketing communications at the University of New Orleans. My classes were held on week days downtown and on Saturday's on Lake Pontchartrain, whose name I loved, coming as it does from a great French statesman who had the infinite good sense to be painted by Robert Le Vrac de Tournieres (1667-1752). I loved that picture from the first moment I saw it... and I loved New Orleans, too, its people, its spirit, its often painful madcappery and self destruction. When I came to know about "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole (published 1980), I read it with an avidity fed by its macabre history; (the author had to commit suicide before any publisher would condescend to review it; it then went on to win the Pulitzer Prize). From the very moment I left my hotel room (where I spent the absolute minimum amount of time) adventures were drawn to me, because they knew I was completely receptive to them.

Her name was Yvette...

On my very first day in New Orleans (it was a Friday), I stayed in a big, fancy hotel just off the French Quarter. I never made that mistake again; on my many future visits I always stayed in a little hotel in the Quarter, steps from the wonderful people I met who filled me with admiration for their zest for living and unadulterated joy under unremitting duress.

The first person who met me (note the language) was a person who looked to me like Tinkerbell on something. He walked up to me and said, "Honey, I can tell you are new to La Nouvelle Orleans. Let me be your guide". I had never, and I mean never, been spoken to like that... but I recognized in these words Fate's distinctive messenger. I accepted, bought my guide a drink... and in due course, having gleaned without difficulty but with some incredulity that I was a writer, he said, "But you must meet Yvette." Of course, I must. That too was Fate...

She was, as the French say, a woman of a certain age; that might have been anything from forty into eternity. I knew at once she had that unmistakable quality the Parisians call "chien". Yes, I know that means "dog", and its English connotations are not good... but she had, and unmistakenly, that mixture of age, chic, dress sense, allure and brass that forces one involuntarily to look back and be sad that vision is rushing to be with someone else. But this time, perhaps for the first time, this woman with a Past was going to influence my future... and I was ready to hear whatever she said.

The conversation turned to life... it always does in the French Quarter with such people as Yvette. With each drink (and there were many) came another piquant observation that convinced me "real" life and I had only a nodding acquaintance. Yvette knew the vicissitudes of life inside and out... and I was bright enough to pay close attention to her observations, often as diamond sharp as Madame de Sevigne (1626-1696). This one completely arrested my attention:

"Darlin', everybody hustles. It's just a question of how, when and where." It instantly occurred to me that this is precisely the element missing from far too many of my business students and people starting and running businesses generally. They are running businesses; they are not hustling for success as if their very lives were dependant on it... and that was the reason so many of them were barely getting by and wondering why, when they were such good and proper folk.

It's because they were missing what Yvette had to spare: hustle. In short they wanted success, but they wanted it on their terms... which just ain't gonna happen.

YOU say you want success, but (for whatever reason) you are not willing to work all the necessary hours it takes to achieve success. SUCCESS says, "You will work as many hours as it takes to capture me... not merely the hours you wish to work."

YOU say you want success, but are not willing to work evenings, week-ends, even standard holidays. SUCCESS says, "If you want me, you must be willing to sacrifice time you'd like to use for other things. Choose!"

YOU say you want success, but you'll only do jobs that make you such-and-such amount. SUCCESS says, "If you want the money, stoop to conquer. When you've got the money you want, then you can afford to be so picky. But that day hasn't dawned yet."

YOU say you want success, but your spouse is doing everything but put you in a cage to make sure you can't achieve it. SUCCESS says "Sugarbabe, there are more good women and men in the sea than those who've come out. Dig my meaning?"

YOU say you want success, but you'll only look at business opportunities that cost you nothing. SUCCESS says "Lambikins, ain't nothin' ever come from nothin'. You've gotta invest to get a return on that investment."

Still more...

YOU say you want success, but you are not willing to do the necessary homework and due diligence to ensure that what you do delivers the substantial rewards you want. SUCCESS says, "Quit trying to beat the system. People who make money are constant, never-ceasing students of success. They review each and every thing to understand how it works... then follow the directions EXACTLY to achieve success. They are not trying to cut corners, because they know that doesn't work."

YOU say you want success but once you get some, you don't gun it to get more. SUCCESS says, "Every successful person on earth has a success system. They know that if they do X, they will get Y results. Thus, as soon as they are successful and can prove their system delivers the desired results (or even better), they arrange their time and resources so they can replicate their successful system over and over again, each time reaping the expected (and ever increasing) benefits."

YOU say you will study successful people to see how they do and how they work because you understand that the achievement of success is inextricably linked to studying the successful and making a point of then doing what they do. SUCCESS says, "Well, are you studying the successful? I certainly haven't seen you around anyone but your low-down worthless friends. The only time they'll appear in the media is for robbing a convenience store! Dump 'em."

YOU say you want success on the Internet. Good for you; it's where lots of people nowadays get big bucks and worldwide, too. SUCCESS says, "You're all talk and no action You don't have anyone to help you. You don't have the necessary tools you need; you don't have the training. And, as for your traffic, that's a joke that you don't know how to fix. Moreover, you have no way to profit 24 hours a day in this demanding 24-hour-a-day environment.

And what of Yvette?...

Let's just say my appreciation for Yvette and what she taught me did not flag as the hours advanced. And as for her profound insight into the sustained hustling all true success seekers must engage in?... why that has now gone from just Yvette to me... and now from me to you... for my next adventure... and, by grasping this article and its recommendations, for your faster, greater, truly impressive success.

Is Your Business REALLY Customer Centered?

Is Your Business REALLY Customer Centered?

by Dr. Jeffrey Lant

Ok, we all know that getting and keeping customers is the lifeblood of any business. I mean, we do all know this, right? Then you've got to treat these essential beings with all the care and consideration they need and require.

So, why don't you?

Here are some of the bone head things any customer can easily experience from businesses like yours on any given day:

1) Telephone calls that aren't returned

This is a constant lamentation from customers: "Why can't I get my calls returned?"

The plain fact is, most businesses are supremely careless about returning calls. Indeed, we seem to have reached the point where the returned call is the exception, not the rule.

This means that businesses are actually willing to throw business away and antagonize customers, rather than implement and adhere to a "calls must be returned promptly" policy. Incredible!

Don't let this be you. Make it a point to return ALL calls every day before you leave, earlier if possible. And do the same for all e-mail messages, too.

2) Keep customers up-to-date on their business

What customers (rightly) resent is being kept in the dark about their affairs. They expect, and are right to expect, that people they employ are empathetic. This means keeping customers fully up-to-date on what is happening with their account.

Either a phone call or an e-mail message can do nicely. The important thing is ensuring you give the customer a clear and detailed report, focusing on what that customer wants to know to be kept fully informed and anxiety free.

3) Do what you say you're going to do

When you were courting your customer, making a pitch for their business, you made promises. Are you keeping them, now that you got the business?

Customers rightly complain that there is a gap between what was promised and what is delivered. Solving this problem is not so very difficult. Keep a clear list of what you promised, and check off these items as you do them. Be sure to inform the customer, so there is no confusion. "I promised this; I have done this." That's the thing!

4) Provide easy customer support

If you provide a service requiring customer support, make it clear what you provide and when you supply it. Customers rightly complain when promised support is not available, and they have to chase you to get assistance. This very quickly goes stale and results in deteriorating relations.

Again, be clear on the support you provide... then deliver exactly what you said you would!

5) Don't gossip or chat in front of waiting customers

This one gets customers hot under the collar real fast.

The plain, unvarnished truth is that far too many business people regard customers as either a) invisible or b) pesky distractions from the thrilling task of keeping their co-workers current on the vicissitudes of their roller-coaster life.

Unless your object is to make customers see red, STOP the chatter, now and for evermore.

6) Stick to business

Just yesterday I called a local business to get details on a possible purchase and instead of focused, professional service... I got an earful about the life and times of an unstoppable loquacious business owner.

WHOA!

On the whole customers do not need to have either a current report on your health issues past, present and future, or the ins and outs of your business for the last quarter century, or so.

The K.I.S.S. principle applies here: Keep it simple, Sam. Don't overwhelm the customer with your personal trivia. It is a real turn-off for most.

6) Say thank-you for the business, and smile when you say it.

Quite simply, you cannot thank a customer enough for her business. Further, you cannot smile enough as you look that customer in the eye while delivering heartfelt words of appreciation.

Thank-you's must NEVER be perfunctory. They must be warm, sincere, radiant and frequent. Remember, the customer ALWAYS knows when they're genuine and bestows future business accordingly!

Tips To Guaranteed Website Traffic

Tips To Guaranteed Website Traffic

There are numerous ways to get guaranteed website traffic, but how much you will get is never guaranteed and may vary from day to day, depending on the method you use, the market, competition, or many other factors. This article will list just a couple of the many ways to get more visitors to your site.

First of all, making sure your site is properly "SEOed" is a first, fundamental step. Even if you are using other non-SEO methods to drive traffic to your site, this is something that will help you achieve results as well. When it comes to SEO, you need to optimize your keywords and keyword phrases on your site, as well as make sure you are getting high-quality backlinks. You can learn how to do this for yourself, employ someone to do it for you, or invest in some software systems that can help you with this important aspect.

In reality, you will need to understand the power of keywords for whatever type of guaranteed website traffic method you use. It's important to understand what are the best keywords for your website, as well as how to use them in the various strategies. Finding keywords is very easy. You can do it for free with the Google Adwords Keyword Tool, or any of the other free sites.

Article marketing is a great way to get more targeted visitors to your site. You can write articles that are information, helpful, and related to the content of your site. Again, keywords play an important role. If you are just starting out, pick keywords that are less competitive and more targeted.

For example, if your site is about cameras, you can target a keyword of a specific type of camera, or lens, or a course about how to use cameras (or that specific camera). The key is to search for words that have lower competition, and these will also be the words that have fewer searches.

Write a 500-word article with that keyword in the title, in the first five words of the body of the article, in one first sentence of one of the body's paragraphs, and in the last sentence of the article. Then, submit your article to Ezine Articles first.

You will submit your article to other sites as well, but you need to change it enough so that the search engines recognize it as a different article. So, before submitting it to any of the other sites (GoAricles, Amazines, ArticleSnatch, or any of the others out there), change the title of the article (while still using your keyword), and the first sentence of each of the paragraphs of your article. Then, go through the article and change a word or two here and there.

There are many services and article submitters that can help you change your articles correctly and submit them to the thousands of directories. This builds backlinks which is one of the key aspects of guaranteed website traffic.

You Can Create A Successful EBook

You Can Create A Successful EBook
Your Ebook deserves to be seen by everyone in your niche but unless you have an effective internet marketing strategy no one will ever know about it. The difference between your Ebook being great and being successful is your ability to get it in front of the people. Once you have the Ebook completed and to your high expectations the battle is only half over. The rest of your work now is finding how to market it online. You could outsource that but once you realize how simple and cost effectively your Ebook can be marketed you'll want to do it yourself.
The best thing that you can do is make sure that your Ebook is the best that it can be. Make sure that your ideas are crisp and clear, that it is error free grammatically and everything is spelled correctly. Also ensure that all illustrations help understanding the points you are making, and that it is pleasing to the eye. It is easy for bad illustrations to become a distraction so make sure they are done well. If you need get people to review and critique it for you and that you take their advice seriously. The better your product is, the more excitement will be created around it. Strive for excellence and people will strive to get what you offer them.
Use word of mouth to spread the word about your Ebook. It would be best to supply your customers with a form that they can recommend it to their friends and associates. Make it so that they can send a personlized invitation to them with a link back to your site. If your customers like it and find it beneficial they are going to spread the word about it.
Another marketing strategy that is going to be incredibly helpful is providing short articles full of good information to ezines, article directories, and other third part sites. The internet is full of these type of sites and used by a wide range of people to seek out this kind of information. What this can accomplish is you make yourself known on a wider audience as an authority or expert on the subject you are dealing with. This will only help you, though, if you provide a link to your site or your ebook. Don't let them know everything you know. Leave them with only part of the answers or information that you want them to know and that to get the rest of it they are going to have to pay for it. If you do this part right, they are going to buy.
A key strategy is to create a group of customers who will keep coming back and buying what you offer in the future. Offer free incentives for them to buy your ebooks like an ezine, newsletter, or even an ebook that you have written earlier or one that you have rights to. The benefits of the ezine or newsletter is that you are seen as a constantly good source of information and you stay on their radar. When you have your next ebook, you will have your first group of customers ready to go. Make sure, though, to reward these loyal customers with freebies or discounts on your next books because these are the ones who will really do the best marketing for you.

Superior blog content makes you money. Here's how to write it like a pro.

Superior blog content makes you money. Here's how to write it like a pro.

by Dr. Jeffrey Lant

Blogs have swept the Internet. EVERY smart person either has one or is working hard to create one asap. This means you!

I'm here to deliver the blog content you must have and are (right now) clueless about creating. Let's dig in and solve that problem right now.

A blog is not a soliloquy, a tirade, or a soap box.

A blog is a conversation started by you. And like all conversations it takes two to tango.

Sadly, most people are lousy conversationalists. They do not converse, back and forth. Rather, they talk at people, mistaking the fact that they are pumping out words to beat the band for a keenly felt desire to hear what the other person has to say. These are selfish communicators... and they can never produce the results you must have to make your blog worthwhile.

Blogs work because they are interactive... and this means creating content that gets results while always urging your readers to respond.

But let's be honest with each other. You're not at all sure how to write blog content that'll do what every blog must do: generate leads and make money. Isn't that about the size of it?

For make no mistake, there is ABSOLUTELY NO point in creating and publishing a blog that doesn't generate good leads and make you money, every single day.

To achieve this objective RSVP must become the 4 most important letters in your profit alphabet.

Repondez s'il vous plait.

1) Always talk to your readers in the second person; always speak to them directly with an implicit or explicit "you". Your reader must know you are talking to her, personally, directly.

2) Make it clear you want to hear from your readers. Readers of your blog need to be told, often and clearly, that you WANT to hear from them; that you are standing by to hear from them... and that hearing from them, now, is the one essential you must have to make your day.

3) Make it easy to respond to you. Include your land line phone number, cell, skype, email, etc. If you want responses, make it supremely easy to respond to you.

4) Keep the tone of your blog intimate, as if you were having a private conversation with your best friend. People always want to know secrets and revealing information, especially about you. Oblige them.

5) Publish reader comments in your blog. What's one tried and true feature that's sure to rivet the full and immediate attention of your readers? Put their name in your blog; their name and any interesting and constructive comments they have made.

Hint: if a blog reader criticizes you, print the criticism... and your (always) cool, calm and collected response. People love reading such exchanges... and your stature is sure to grow by showing your readers how well you handle them. Ole!

"Content is king," saith Bill Gates... and he surely knows.

Billionaire Bill said, many years ago, that online "content is king." Truer words have ne'er been spoke. The key is knowing how to get it.

Start with a pair of scissors.

Each day I sit down with the publications I receive, including the Boston Globe, New England's paper of record. Over my Cheerios I proceed to read... not just for immediate information but for topics of interest about which I can write blog content.

Such topics are easy to find, ranging as they to from current Congressional high jinx to the faux pas of kings and presidents; from economic prognostications to items of human interest and insight.

If you want to run an effective, useful blog, keep such publications -- and scissors -- near at hand.

The wire services are key.

All day, every day the essential, usually unsung heroes of international incident and instant communications -- the wire services of the Associated Press, Reuters, etc -- pump out the factual information every single commentator on earth relies on and must be grateful for. In short, they do the grunt work that enables you to appear at all times knowledgeable, intelligent, omniscient. Without them such poses would be fatuous, ridiculous., unsustainable.

Similarly, check places inhabited by news junkies like me; you know, the major search engines and, always, CNN, Fox News, etc. Remember, a blog is a place of commentary... and commentators (with you now amongst them) must ALWAYS have something on which to comment.

Another hint: you need to open an "idea" folder, into which you can file, on a regular, daily basis, all the good subjects (funny, tragic, infamous, informative) that come your way. Never rely upon memory. Remember your scissors (and for online information your printer.) Gather this information and put it away. For this is the pure gold of the commenting business, and of your so well informed blog.

Timely blog posts; timeless blog posts. You need both

All blog content falls into two main categories: timely and timeless.

Timely means things of the moment; actions, events that are breaking news. You must be on top of these stories with valuable content and timely comment. Your aim must always be to be in advance of the developing story... at the very least on top of the current news cycle. This can easily be done on the 'net... if you stay abreast of story developments, as reported in the spots inhabited by news junkies and blogsters like you.

But all your posts need not be timely; much invaluable content can and should be timeless -- meaning it can be used and reused... again and again -- either as is, or updated. Such "evergreen" content has always been the friend of folks like us with a deadline... and the need for immediate content... but not an idea to be had. We rely on such worthy content, as on a good friend. (By the way, this article goes firmly into that category... for it has legs and can be read -- and published -- with profit for years to come.)

Your blog is your future

Right now, yet again, the Internet is being reshuffled. Those with blogs of consequence are emerging as the very sovereigns of cyberspace. Believe me, you wish to be amongst them... for to them will fall all the loaves and fishes.

These remarks will help. Print them, save them, savour them, for they come from an old hand at this fast-moving business.

Why your company must have a designated nudge

Why your company must have a designated nudge

Did you know your company has a open position which
needs to be filled at once? The absence of this person is
costing you money every single day. That's why
you cannot wait another minute to fill this vital post.

To help understand what this position is all about,
let's start at the dictionary:

Nudge (nuj) v. nudged, nudging. v. t. To touch or
push gently as with the elbow, in order to attract
attention, convey a meaning, etc. v.i. To give a
nudge. n. The act of nudging; a gentle push as with
the elbow. Norw. nugga, push.

Frankly, I think the original Norwegian ("nugga") has it
right: push. The nudge is your company's designated
representative to push employees and associates for
more and faster results.

Why you need a nudge

Let's face it, you're human. You try to set goals. You
try to reach them in the time provided. You try to do more
and better, right?

But somehow you fall behind, miss deadlines, bobble
opportunities, trip and crash when you should be sprinting
ahead. Isn't that about the size of it?

Which is why you need a designated nudge.

In a nutshell the job of the nudge is to

* check progress on existing projects and objectives

* ask how you are getting on with what needs to be done

* remind you what needs to be done and when
it must be done

* offer incentives for achievement

* make it clear what happens when achievement is
not forthcoming

And, in general, spur, motivate, challenge, chide
-- and push.

The nudge must be organized, efficient, focused,
indefatigable, with a thick skin

Only a person of the utmost efficiency, clarity and
organization can be a nudge. After all, a nudge who
falters and fails is hardly going to make a success of the
position, much less deliver the benefits you have
every right to expect.

Beyond such skills, the nudge must be a person
who, above all, has a thick skin and who doesn't take
things personally.

Nudges are often regarded as people butting in where
they are not wanted... perfectionists in an imperfect
world... annoying, interfering, pests; in short not the
most welcome of creatures.

That's why two things are absolutely necessary for
the successful nudge: a thick skin and immunity for
whatever they say.

The necessity for immunity

A nudge by definition pushes other employees...
and must therefore be protected from the comments
and reactions of all employees.

Consider this typical situation:

Nudge: Mary, as you know your monthly sales figures
are a little off. What are you planning to do to get back
on track?

I guarantee you that Mary is not likely to be very happy
when the nudge drops by with this message. However,
that is the nudge's job: to get Mary back on track ASAP,
to enable both Mary and the company to achieve their
clearly understood goals.

Mary may well be inclined to respond with a "get
out of here. I am fully capable of handling this matter
myself" comment.

But she cannot and must not.

The nudge's job is to remind Mary of what needs to be
done, when it needs to be done, what Mary is doing to
achieve the objective, and to give Mary all appropriate
help and directions, right up to and including warnings
and admonitions.

The nudge is constantly in motion and may appear
anywhere, at any time.

By definition, a nudge cannot be a stationary object;
the nudge must constantly be

* connecting with employees
* reviewing their progress
* making suggestions
* focusing employees
* recommending what must be done and
when it must be done.

The nudge must be supremely well organized
and must have a clear daily "to do" list.

This means

* knowing who must be contacted today

* calling and emailing such people (including
follow-up e-mails after all meetings).

* re-focusing employees, tweaking, adjusting,
reminding.

The nudge is a creature in constant motion...

* prodding Joe

* complimenting Neal

* chiding Sally

being clear on what each needs to achieve... and working
with each and all to achieve those objectives.

Start today

There isn't a company on this earth which wouldn't
be better off having a designated nudge on staff.
That's why you must start today.

* Review the nudge candidates you have. Who is
best equipped to contact each and every employee
and representative to improve results?

* The nudge must be in constant communication
with employees AND with management.

* The nudge's conduct and mode of operation
must be reviewed at regular intervals. Remember
your Lord Acton: "power corrupts. Absolute power
corrupts absolutely." You must ensure that your
nudge doesn't develop arrogance and "big head"
problems, which can easily occur without periodic
intervention and oversight.

Review the nudge's results

A nudge who understands and is good at this
job is a godsend to any company. After all, nudges are
clear on what is likely to deliver better results:

* allowing employees to go their own ways
without regular oversight and reminding, or

* having to report progress (or lack of same)
to a designated representative whose task is
to get people to produce more in a designated
period of time?

Obvious, isn't it?

And so we come back to the original Norwegian word
"nugga", meaning push. The nudge is your company's
secret weapon, who by simply showing up and pushing
and prodding employees will achieve better results day after
day.

Cherish nudges, for they are a source of endless
benefits to you and your organization. Far too many
employees are slow, slothful, disorganized, inefficient.
Apply the magic of the nudge to the solution of these
problems and deficiencies. The results will most
assuredly please you!

Affiliate Marketing Tips You Shouldn't Pass Up On

Affiliate Marketing Tips You Shouldn't Pass Up On

Many people enter into affiliate marketing with a great deal of enthusiasm, but lose steam when they don't instantly get results. Like many things, proper affiliate marketing takes time and hard work. In this article, you'll learn where you should be putting your effort in, and how you can get the results you've been hoping for.

Do not get lazy once you have things going well. Take the time to look into new products and trends. Check for updates with your affiliate programs and find out if they have any new tools and ads that will increase the visual appeal to your site and make it more tempting to click on.

If you're using multiple traffic sources to promote products, you need to make sure they all lead back to the same location. Although it sounds like common sense, you'd be surprised at just how many people are posting articles and e-zines that link to various other articles. The idea, one would guess, is to switch up the SEO results. But this is ultimately bad for traffic.

Recycle the emails that have made you the most money about once per year. This will ensure that new subscribers see that content, and should lead you to even more sales and commission. Old subscribers probably won't remember having received it the first time and might click through again for more sales.

Tier 2 commissions are a way to get more money out of your affiliate marketing deals. An affiliate partner pays you tier 2 money when you recruit another website owner into working with the partner. This can be a more challenging and profitable goal for the experienced marketer. Remember to investigate your partners' tier 2 benefits beforehand, and concentrate on the ones with the most potential profit.

Advertising your affiliate business as a legitimate business is a great way to get traffic and the best part is that it's the truth. Especially if you're selling electronics or other high-end products, you are a legitimate business if you're an affiliate. So take advantage of business listings to list your site.

For more affiliate sales, don't neglect 'cost per action' programs. In addition to making money when your visitors buy something, you can also get paid - when your visitors do things like downloading game software or filling out a form. 'Cost per action' or CPA programs usually pay less money, but it worth it. Because it is easier to get people to perform these actions than to get them to buy something!

A great tip for affiliate marketing is to pre-sell any offers that you would like your site visitors to purchase. Simply adding a link to your page is not going to generate all that much money. Rather, take the time and explain why your visitors should click on the links.

You can set up your affiliate marketing account through each company that you would like. Each company will have their own criteria for allowing you to be an affiliate, but most just appreciate the free publicity. Just make sure that the company you choose has products that you want to endorse.

Find out if the affiliate program that you are considering, offers test products to you so that you can write an honest review about the product on your site. Many affiliate programs will provide you with this service and it will really increase the honesty that you can use when providing information about the products you are promoting.

Don't give up on affiliate marketing before you really get started. While you may not be impressed by your affiliate marketing profits right now, that may change once you start applying this article's advice. If you stick with affiliate marketing and do the right things, you can achieve some great things.

Easy Ways To Promote Your Business Online

Easy Ways To Promote Your Business Online
The internet is the future. If you have or will have a business, whether it be local or online, having a presence on the web is essential to survival. Marketing your website and business on the web is confusing and difficult for most average business owners. This article will give you some pointers on ways that you too can effectively promote your business online.
When designing a website to market a product or service online, include a "resources" section. Adding a resources section attracts potential clients to your site by increasing your search engine ranking. It also means that viewers of your site are more likely to return to view those resources, and might end up buying your product later.
A very good marketing tool is placing ads for your business on Craigslist. You have to be careful though because ads placed in separate cities that have the same info will not be accepted. Try saying the same thing, but wording it in a much different way that may be specific to each city you are targeting.
Keep track of the load speed on every single page on your website. If it takes longer than 10 seconds to load, you need to fix this immediately. You can find page load testers online. People will not wait wait long for a page to load, and this will put them in your competitors hands.
Make your internet marketing efforts distinctive and stand out from your competitors. The world of online marketing is not so big that someone out there is not selling a similar product using similar tactics to yours. Research these competitors carefully and see what you can do to differentiate your services from theirs. A potential customer presented with multiple similar pitches is going to select the one that stands out.
Keep banner ads to a minimum on your own website; instead, increase the usage of buttons. Buttons are significantly smaller and take up only a small amount of space and bandwidth. You can also incorporate text links into the site design; the links are easy for users to find and can be configured so that the link opens in a new window. This will also make the site load faster, which is very important to the average consumer.
Youtube is quickly becoming one of the fastest ways to provide ads to the public for your internet marketing. The user generated network allows for you to create your ad that is thrown onto a youtube video only if it has reached a certain demographic and level of popularity
To make sure your internet marketing works well with search engines, minimize your use of site-wide links. These kinds of links are low on the totem pole of search algorithm rankings and can move your links to the end of the line in relevance. This means you fall off the first search page and get less traffic.
If you are going to use other languages than English during Internet marketing, make sure you know what the word means. Just doing an online translation of an English word will produce poor results. Ask an expert, you may have to pay for services yet it will be worth it. Look at it this way: they speak a different form of Spanish in Spain and in Mexico. You want to target the right people with the right words.
As stated in the beginning, having an active presence for your business online is essential in today's business economy and market. Consumers want to find you in search results and check you out online before they visit your physical location. Now that you have a better understanding of what you can do, your business should see the benefits in no time.

Master blog article writer tells you exactly how to write articles that get read and responded to.

Master blog article writer tells you exactly how to write articles that get read and responded to.

By Dr. Jeffrey Lant

It is a pleasure to have this opportunity to spend some time with you and provide the detailed step-by-step information you must have to get the attention of the people on your list and get them to respond -- and rain well deserved compliments on you and your notable blog work.

Let's dig right in; there's lots of ground to cover.

1) The purpose of blog articles.

Know much about space travel? Here's a crucial part that astronauts pay a lot of attention to: the heat shields that protect a space capsule returning to earth. Without these shields the capsule and the passengers within would be fried. The same thing happens when you mail ad copy and nothing but ad copy to your lists. Recipients will get plenty angry plenty fast. They want more from you than just ads, and if they don't get it, the unsubscribe link is near at hand.

Blog copy is essential because it keeps subscribers on your list by giving them a good reason for staying on your list. In short, like those heat shields, this copy protects the list and keeps it whole, growing, profitable.

2) Don't publish random articles.

Give your articles increased weight and importance by creating them as part of an ongoing series. When you write good copy, copy of substance and value, people not only want to read it... but they want more, lots more, from you, a person whose articles and opinion they come to respect.

3) Number each article and announce that number along with each article.

As I write (August 6, 2011), this is my 312 article in the series. You want people to know that, not least because they will want to find and profit from the other articles in the series, all the other articles. Furthermore, as your list of articles grows, so will your reputation and perceived standing. In short, you will be an authority, a commentator of renown and repute.

4) Write your blog articles to a certain length, and stick to it.

My daily blog articles (which I produce free for blog owners worldwide) are all approximately 1500 words in length. That is three single-spaced pages. This length gives you ample space to develop an article on any given theme. It is also a convenient length for readers, not too long or demanding; crucial features in our time-pressed days. Once you have developed your format, you will soon start thinking in terms of your available space and will find it easier and easier the more you write to conceive and write articles of that length.

5) Always search for and brainstorm new article subjects.

I am on a dizzing blog article creation pace: one 1,500 word blog article per day. This is a challenging schedule for even the most experienced writers. That means I need 365 article subjects per year, challenging indeed. But even if you decide to write just one blog article per week, you'll need 52 subjects to write about, nothing to take for granted.

When you write blog articles, you are always and forever in the business of finding hot new article subjects. To start, get the major metropolitan newspaper from your area; (for me that's The Boston Globe)... and a pair of scissors. Now sit down and review this newspaper with a new eye; an eye that's seeking interesting, timely, readers-will-love-this subjects.

Make time to cut these articles from the publication. Don't fall behind with this crucial task. In my case, I review and cut out three times a week, more if at all possible.

Keep a good pair of sharp scissors at hand. Look at each article in each edition to see whether an article on that theme or subject would fit your blog. If so, cut at once and make sure to date everything you cut out. That's a must.

Then deposit what you've found in a large drawer... this is the article subject compost heap and it is essential. In it you will find subjects you will surely want to write about... and subjects you're watching, to write about at some future date. Cut liberally; you can be sure one day you will have no subject readily at hand. Having all these ideas will then pirove very useful indeed.

6) Select the next subject you'll write about, gather the information you need to do so.

The creation of articles of substance, articles that draw continual kudos from your readers, is a direct result of knowing where to look for the information you need. The better you become at this necessary task, the better articles you will produce and the faster your reputation grows, too.

Start by doing a search at any search engine (I prefer Google) to see what information is available. Where you are writing an article about a breaking news item, don't just check the available information, also pay close attention to the time the most recent material was posted (e.g. "7 hours ago"). This is essential for keeping what you write ahead of the news cycle. For timely articles, this skill is required.

Then visit the Wikipedia. The Wikipedia is one of the most ingenious and necessary tools ever invented. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't use it, finding and printing the invaluable information I absolutely must have do my work... one aspect of which is studding my articles with the facts therein so amply provided. This source is crucial.

You will also need to visit the websites of article providers such as Associated Press, Reuter's, Bloomberg, etc. They are a terrific source of article subjects and timely data.

7) Brainstorm articles.

You and your lifetime of education and experience are also valuable sources for articles. Keep a pad at the ready, or an Internet file, where ALL possible article subjects can be listed. Never, ever rely on forgetful memory for such subjects. Write them down at once.

8) Set a precise date for finishing all articles.

I write and blog my articles daily. I have a precise time of the day when the deadline for the next article MUST be met: 8 a.m. Eastern time. To do this I find all the data I'l need the day before and review it before bed time. Then I am awake and drafting, editing, then finalizing the day's article by 3 a.m. Eastern time; that is not a misprint! I have found the silent hours of the (usually) uninterrupted night the very best time to write, not least because I am wide awake and full of beans at that time. You'll find the schedule most suitable for you; set it, adhere to it religiously. You will find if you do that your brain and body will be willing to work at that time, and that is a great benefit.

9) Keep individual files for every article you write.

These files should contain all the printed information sources for this subject as well as all your notes and each draft. Everything pertaining to this article (including the compliments readers email you) must be kept, not least because you may very well decide to write follow-up and related articles for which current data will be most helpful.

Last words.

Blogging is the future of the Internet; that is absolutely clear. And for blogging to work, and your list to be protected, superior blog copy is a must. Now you know how to produce it.
